It’s a frustrating paradox. Late in life I discovered that I like to write. It’s a fascinating process, creating something out of nothing except one’s own imagination. By and large I’m pleased with the finished project-usually.
But then once a novel or short story is finished and out there in the world, I want to share it with others in the hope that they will enjoy the read as much as I enjoyed the writing of it. Not for fame, and most definitely not for fortune, simply to enjoy a good story well written.
It turns out that beyond the actually production of a book or short story lies the world of ‘marketing’ and as soon as I entered that world of push-push-push the writing lost a lot of its joy.
I want to continue to enjoy writing, and I hope people will take the time to read some of the stories, but for a while I got caught up in the race to get customers instead of readers. I’ll try not to let it happen again.
Thank you to all those who have enjoyed my work so far.
