The world glides past,

beyond my closed window and door

It’s pace unchecked by my age and infirm.

The sound vibrant with worldly life mocks my lust For peace

And lost youth.

But the current is now too swift

For one such as I to swim

Or be swept on tides of a stray emotion

Time has stolen my vehicle of motion

But granted the wisdom

That it denied me in my youth
